I see a lot of folks spend a bunch of time on X, LinkedIn, and other social platforms trying to find job opportunities by writing posts, replying to posts, and DMing people.
If you were going to waste that time doomscrolling X anyway, then sure, maybe these sorts of activities are a productivity improvement... but compared to other things you could be doing, it's not the best use of time.
Having a good LinkedIn profile is important, but sending random connection requests to people in your feed to "grow your network" isn't. X can be a good place to learn about what's going on in the industry, but it's just not a good time investment for most people.
Social is only worth your time if you make absolute banger posts. If you write bangers and grow a following, it can help. But most of us don't write bangers... My views have been rough lately don't judge.
Spend time on social media at your own risk. Prefer in-person networking, virtual meetups, and tight-knit communities over the content grind.
