LinkedIn Profile

Take the time to fill out some of the simpler profile details:

1. Add a profile picture (you should already have a good one from the last chapter)
2. Add your location
3. Add a background image. Do you have a picture of you doing something interesting? Maybe at the beach? At a conference? Ideally, it features you, but worst-case scenario you can use something generic like the city skyline where you live or some scenery.
4. If you have an impressive ACT/SAT/GPA feel free to add it to the test scores section
5. Join some groups related to your career interests, e.g. "Go Developer Community", "Python Programming", etc. These will show at the bottom of your profile.
6. If you've participated in any hackathons or won any relevant awards, add them to your profile in that section
7. Add your 2-3 GitHub portfolio projects to the "projects" section
8. Add contact info. If you don't have a personal site, just use your GitHub profile.
9. Fill in the skills section. Max that baby out. Do research on the jobs you're interested in and be sure you list the ones they're looking for. This is also a good time to reflect on any gaps that you can work on filling. If you have any tech-adjacent jobs listed, you can assign skills to those specific jobs as well.
10. Fill in the "about" section with 1-2 paragraphs. This should look similar to the stuff you added to your GitHub profile README. Again, focus on your technical skills, interests, and projects. You can also drop skill keywords, but I wouldn't overly stuff it, it should look human.
