Start Applying
It's time to start applying to jobs!
You've got all you need to start sending cold applications to companies. There are additional strategies aside from cold applying that we'll talk about soon, but I'm a believer in cold applying as well. It doesn't take a ton of time, and frankly, most of my jobs as a developer came from cold applying.
Set a Weekly Goal
I sent around 150 applications over about an 8-week period before I landed my first full-time developer job.
Pick a number of applications you want to send per week as a goal. Make sure that it's high enough that you're getting yourself out there, but that it's low enough that you'll have the time to put in the effort needed to make each application good.
As a rule of thumb:
- Fewer than 10 applications per week is likely too low
- More than 50 applications per week is likely too high
Don't Wait
Don't wait! There's no reason to put this off. The absolute worst thing that can happen when you submit an application is that they say no, or you don't hear back. You won't be insulted, you won't lose any money, and your credit score won't drop. So there's no reason to wait.
There are millions of companies out there, and you only need one to say yes.
