Profile README

You can add a README to your profile page by creating a repo with the same name as your GitHub username and adding a README.md to that repo. That README will render on your profile page. It's driven completely by naming convention. Here's an example of my repo and it renders here.

Think of your profile README as a short "about my technical life" section.

Keep it short. At most a paragraph or two, or maybe just a list of bullet points. This is a good place to show off:

  • Specific language skills
  • Favorite projects you're building
  • Open source contributions
  • Technical blogs, videos, talks, or content you've created
  • Awards or recognitions you've received
  • Books you're reading
  • Courses you're taking
  • Links to other profiles (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)

Examples

I'm Lane, I write and operate backend systems in Go and Python.

I've been spending a lot of time contributing to a client library for RabbitMQ recently - I'm interested in how we can increase the allowed functionality while keeping the spirit of "batteries included". I'm looking for a new full time role, so if you know of any companies that need a skilled Go or Python engineer, reach out!

Books I'm reading

I'm Chad, I've been diving into memory arenas in C and trying to decide whether or not I like Rust's ownership model.

I've written some blog posts on Medium about my early thoughts on the borrow checker, and I'm currently digging into the Rust book when I'm not keeping my kids from eating crayons.

Assignment

Submit the link to your GitHub profile README.

Remember, the last two sections of the URL should match because your repo name and username should be the same.
